PRE-MARCH STATEMENT:

Chris Sgro, Executive Director, Equality NC:

“For the past three years, Equality NC has been a proud partner of the Historic Thousands on Jones Street (HKonJ) coalition, and in 2014, is a proud participant in HKonJ's Moral March on Raleigh. This assembly represents all of North Carolina -- thousands of concerned citizens of all sexual orientations and gender identities, coming together to fight for the state's marginalized communities, including LGBT North Carolinians.

Moral March represents an unofficial kick-off to Equality NC's 2014 efforts to pass LGBT non-discrimination policies, protect our youngest generations from discrimination, bullying, and harassment, build pro-equality support at the polls, and, once and for all, wipe away the scourge of Amendment One.

In the weeks following the march, we'll be assembling in communities from the mountains to the coast with our #GetEngagedNC Regional Institutes (equalitync.org/getengagednc) to encourage all of our supporters, no matter where they live, to get engaged in the important work of moving our state forward for Equality.”
