Equality NC Action Fund Launches PAYBACK CHALLENGE

Raleigh, N.C. — Equality NC Action Fund, the political action committee (PAC) of North Carolina’s leading Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) advocacy organization, today launched its latest PAC fundraising campaign, the Equality NC Action Fund “PAYBACK CHALLENGE.”

Equality NC Action Fund PAYBACK CHALLENGE

The month-long fundraising effort encourages fair-minded North Carolinians angered by the Amendment One outcome to “payback” the opposition by contributing now until September 20, at equalitync.org, to support the organization’s efforts to elect pro-equality candidates, oppose anti-LGBT politicians, and sponsor grassroots activism leading up to the 2012 general election. The fundraising campaign is accompanied by a new video highlighting North Carolina citizens impacted by Amendment One.

To encourage donations as election season heats up, a group of donors will also match all gifts to Equality NC Action Fund by 50% now through midnight on September 20—up to $60,000.

The Equality NC Action Fund plans to announce its PAC endorsements in early September to help drive a pro-equality vote in November 2012.

“The Equality NC Action Fund PAYBACK CHALLENGE is North Carolina’s first and best opportunity to payback anti-LGBT politicians who forced us into a very divisive Amendment One fight and support pro-equality candidates who can help move us forward,” said Stuart Campbell, Equality NC’s Executive Director. “Through the generous support given from now until September 20, we can make a real difference in the fight for equality in November.”
